The UK terror threat level is being raised from "substantial" to "severe", Home Secretary Alan Johnson has said.
Mr Johnson stressed there was no intelligence to suggest a terrorist attack was imminent.

The decision to raise the threat level was made by the UK's Joint Terrorism Analysis Centre (JTAC).
Mr Johnson said JTAC kept the threat level under constant review, making its judgments based on a broad range of factors, including the intent and capabilities of international terrorist groups in the UK and overseas.
But the best bit is yet to come:
He said: "We still face a real and serious threat to the UK from international terrorism, so I would urge the public to remain vigilant and carry on reporting suspicious events to the appropriate authorities and to support the police and security services in their continuing efforts to discover, track and disrupt terrorist activity."
You couldn't make this shit up.
The thing that I'm struggling with is who in the general public gives a flying fuck what the terror level means? If you ask any person in the street what it even was, and how it affected their lives, you'd find it's completely and utterly irrelevant in everyone's lives. This is for good reason - for example, what are we supposed to do if it goes up a level? There's nothing you can do, so what the fuck is the point in it? Are we not supposed to leave our houses if the level reaches critical?
The entire system makes a mockery of the Security Services, frankly. Especially when cunts like Alan Johnson use it to political advantage to try and quash dissent.

The big problem is that we should be taking these terror warnings seriously and we're not. After all nobody that I know fancies being blown to bits by some jihadist with a semtex waistcoat. And I certainly don't want to.
The cynicism and distrust we have of this government is such that when there is a genuine threat to life and limb few of us take any notice. Hardly surprising considering they've made themselves such a disreputable laughing stock.
Thing is I'm pretty sure there are people out there who want to maim and kill in pursuit of there own particular brand of religion.
And a cynical population such as ourselves makes easy meat.

Do you stop using public transport in case it's blown up? Do you increase your distrust of anyone who looks a bit "terroristy"? Do you stop leaving your house?
It's the most fucking useless information ever invented as we're not told what to do with it - why? Because there's nothing you can do with it.
Dave you're right in so much as there is little in a practical sense we can do to stop a terrorist attack. There is no point in being paranoid or eyeing up people with long beards etc. But a bit of common sense ie keeping an eye out in airports, rail stations etc wouldn't do us any harm.
The point I was trying to make is that these warnings are coming to us via a government that we have no trust in at all. I suspect they don't trust us either. The fact that Johnson has given us no details as to the nature of the threat adds to the general mood of cynicism. This can only be exploited by people who have malevolent intentions.

I would rather the government had the decency to look us in the eye as fellow adults as well as fellow citizens and tell us what kind of threat we face. They don't have to tell us every last detail. Unfortunately they see us more as vulnerable children who need to be protected from 'disturbing' information lest we all run around screaming hysterics.

This is to keep us in a constant state of alarm,frightened people are easier to condition to the police states increasing violence towards us.There is no need to live like this,when we could quite easily remove the cause of the problem by expelling the useless muslim parasites.
