Road Works

First I've heard of these plans, over at the BBC.
Eight weeks of works costing £120,000 are under way in the Stokes Croft area of Bristol aimed at improving safety for people walking and cycling.

Maybe if Bristol's arrogant "rules-don't-apply-to-me" cycling contingent actually fucking stopped at the red traffic lights in Stokes Croft then they would be safer - this area is well known for people shooting through red lights.

Oh, but of course it's all the car's fault:
Changes are being put in place banning drivers from turning left into City Road or right from Jamaica Street.

A few corrections are needed:
"The scheme is designed to resolve the safety issues and ensure a smoother journey for all."
Make that "..ensure a smoother journey for all cyclists."
Alterations will be made to traffic lights at both Jamaica Street and City Road to help reduce congestion.
Make that "Alterations will be made to traffic lights at both Jamaica Street and City Road to help increase congestion in order to garner public and media support for the planned congestion charge."

However, if they are telling the truth about the lights, and the planned alterations will reduce congestion, does that mean that the current traffic light timings are deliberately set to increase congestion?

Which is it, BCC?

So the only alternative route is to go down Ashley Road to get to that side of town.. isn't this going to cause even more traffic build-up? Is there only going to be one way in and out of St. Pauls eventually? It's certainly looking like it.

There are laws within the roed trafic act tha cover cycling, but for whatever reason they are never enforced. They should be as cyclists are a nightmare and do not follow the rules of the road.

I asked a chap from Bristol about this today and he told me " dunno nothing about it ".
Make of that what you will

Ha ha ha!

The law is not enforced because it is silly. It makes no more sense to prosecute cyclists for jumping red lights than to prosecute pedestrians for crossing the road.

Jumping red lights is fun, safe and quicker.
