Cabbot circus, cicus being the operative word here, is a fucking eye sore. The centre needed development, but why did they have to build it so fucking ugly. None of the buildings match, and the only reason it didn't get called The Merchants Quarter (or something similar), was because of the association with the slave trade. The Merchant Venturers, made a lot of money in and for Bristol, and it was about a lot more than slavery.
"I hate it that Bristol was built on the slave trade". Have a word with yourself and try reading a book instead of reading ZNL version of self hating British history. The slave trade was part of Bristol's history, not the whole thing. It was a port and traded a lot more than slaves. Slaves, might i add, who were sold to them by rival tribes in Africa.
St. Pauls and Easton are not deprived areas of the city. They have more spent on them than Hartcliffe, Withywood, Bishposworth, Hengrove and the whole south of the city. Although this is bound to change with the somali's taking over Bedminster.
